STAFF - Our CLB Family

At Clare’s Little Bears we are all receiving ongoing training through Herts for Learning and hold a recognised Level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Development or are actively working towards one. We recognise the importance of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Clare’s Little Bears team are enthusiastic and committed. We treat each child in a friendly and in a polite manner, are respectful towards children of all backgrounds and abilities, and foster a positive and trusting relationship between adults and children.

We will ensure the team keep up to date with new developments, attend training courses and implement changes and new ideas as soon as·feasible.

Our key workers are responsible for a small group of children and make sure that the planning of the curriculum takes each child’s development into account. Regular observations are kept to ensure the individual progress of every child is recorded. Parents or carers are advised of their child’s progress informally and during set parents’ meetings.

All staff hold a current certificate in Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding Children (Child Protection). It is pre-school policy to encourage staff to continue their professional development by attending a variety of relevant courses provided by the Early Years and Child Care Service as well as reputable training providers.

Our school is situated in a quite area of Stevenage Old Town, within walking distance of Letchmore School and the town shops. We can cater for up to twenty six children during each session, so we are a small and friendly school able to focus on each child as an individual.

We have a lovely inside space which enables us to cover all areas of the curriculum, and also a fantastic garden designed to encourage our childrens' imaginations, as well as enough space to run around and get some good excercise.

Please come and visit us and have a look for yourself.

Our Ethics

We believe it is important to gain an understanding of social responsibility, and to care for the world in which we live. To achieve this we aim to:

  • Recycle as much as we can.
  • Compost as much as we can, and then re-use for growing plants and food.
  • Teach our children about where our food comes from, and to grow some of our own.
  • Buy our snacks and general resources from sustainable sources whenever possible.

It has been a pleasure working in partnership with Clare's Little Bears to ensure a smooth transition for the children from pre- school to nursery. The children from Clare's Little Bears have settled well and shown readiness for learning in the nursery environment. The transition between the settings works well, communication being a key focus for us both. The staff are very friendly and it has been a pleasure to get to know all of the team..

Clare looked after both my two children, providing excellent care. My children both love their time with Clare & her family.
She always motivates the children to carry out certain activities, like drawing, painting, making, playing, role play and many more, especially outisde activities.. which my children loved.
Clare was excellent in helping me 'potty train' my two children and provided excellent support in doing this with lots of encouragement by providing the children with certificates & compliments.

Clare has now become a very special dear friend of mine, she's so caring and thoughtfull and nothing is to much trouble.
We all love what she does , she brings a smile to our faces everyday. Clares Little Bears grows and I wish Clare all the very best.

Just a little note to say how delighted we are with the new setting, Millie has settled in really well and loves the arts and crafts area, she can almost write her name now and is most impressed with herself and her ‘M’s! We love seeing what she has done at the end of the day.

You and your lovely team are all very patient with her, especially with her drop off grumpiness!! Millie is much at home with Sarah and has taken well to Lisa. She talks about all her friends and what they do together at ‘school’.

I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending you to any one that is looking for safe, secure and welcoming childcare.
Angie Waters.
